The performance venue "Casa das Caldeiras" (translated as Boiler House) has, as one of its main focuses, the aim of contributing to a better understanding and promotion of one of the most authentic and characteristic musical genres of our region, of our Portugal – The Song of Coimbra.
With its own unique sound, the Portuguese guitar combined with singing, in its most traditional essence, makes this musical genre the ultimate expression of our culture, awakening deep sensations and emotions.

The Boiler House relies on the collaboration of several individuals who, over many years, have developed and contributed to a richer artistic and musical representation, always grounded in the roots of the Song of Coimbra.
Its show takes the audience on a journey through time, telling the story of our song and our University, highlighting the deep connection between students and performers. Thus, its repertoire includes both traditional and contemporary pieces.
The Song of Coimbra is recognized by various institutions in the city as something absolutely essential to both Coimbra and the region, due to its role in socio-cultural identity and as a living form of distinguishing Coimbra from other similar cities.
